Construction Cost: $2.03M
Overview: 24” & 16” DIP Transmission Line Replacement
The project consisted of replacing the existing PVC waterline with approximately 2,400 feet of 16-inch and 24-inch Ductile Iron Pipe at the intersection of Pioneer Boulevard and Falcon Ridge Parkway in Mesquite, Nevada. This intersection is one of the busiest in the City and therefore required extensive utility investigation, traffic controls, and work sequencing. The project included an 80-foot steel sleeve where the waterline crossed above a large box culvert. Typical pipe connections, asphalt removal and repair, sidewalk and curb and gutter replacement, earthwork, and other items incidental to work were included as part of the waterline construction. Since a lot of the materials for the project had long lead times, Civil Science assisted the District in ordering materials, during the design and prior to construction. This helped save money for the District and maintain the project schedule originally anticipated for the project. Once the contractor was hired, Civil Science assisted during the construction phase in reviewing submittals, performing inspections at the site, conducting progress meetings and issuing field orders and changes in the work. Construction was completed ahead of schedule with minimum change orders to the Owner.
