- Successfully addressed traffic congestion in the area due to heavy east/west traffic and pickup/drop off from an adjacent elementary school.
- The design addressed physical constraints from US-6 and surrounding properties, successfully incorporated offset entry and exit alignments, addressed truck turning movements while minimizing issues related to speed alignments for smaller vehicles, and incorporated pedestrian crossings.
- Civil Science coordinated efforts with both City representatives and the CMGC, as well as coordinated effective pavement treatments with UDOT’s R3 Pavement Engineer.
- To address utility issues similar to the 800 East roundabout that was completed by the City the prior year, Civil Science completed a comprehensive utility exploration exercise, coordinated with the City to address utility company contacting, and developed an attractive, low impact wall option in the center of the roundabout.
- The design included a detailed grading model to address excessive existing grades, detention modifications to an adjacent property, and a custom pedestrian ramp to meet ADA requirements.
- Construction was completed in the fall of 2020.
