- The intersection included a skewed west leg which was ideal for roundabout geometry. The design accommodated semi-truck turning movements from 400 North and fire truck movements throughout. Several concepts were reviewed to determine impacts to adjacent private parcels, with the approved concept requiring the demolition of a home on the southwest corner and grading impacts to several other properties.
- Culinary water main and services were replaced under the limits of the roundabout extending in 400 North from 300 West to 200 West. New storm drain inlets connected to an existing trunk line in 300 West. An existing shallow 2’x3’ concrete box culvert used for irrigation and stormwater in 300 West required reconstruction of the top slab to withstand heavy vehicle traffic. The intersection grade was raised several feet to gain cover over the culvert. Overhead power poles and lines were relocated, streetlighting was installed, and the center island was landscaped.
- Signage and striping design included RRFB’s (rectangular rapid flashing beacons) at all crosswalks and LED flashing yield signs on all approaching legs. The intersection is a safe walking route to a nearby elementary school and is near Spanish Fork High School.
- Construction was completed in September 2023.
