McKenzie County 149th Ave NW Design & Construction Management

Civil Science staff provided design and construction services to McKenzie County and Charbon Township for improvements to 149th Ave NW. This 3.0-mile project consisted of reconstructing a rural road section from ND200 to 35th St NW. Elements of the project included grading, erosion control, pipe culverts, bituminous surfacing, cement stabilized subgrade, signing, and striping. Design included

roadway design, hydraulic culvert design, USACE permitting, legal descriptions, plats, and landowner negotiations to assist the Township with obtaining additional permanent easements and temporary

construction easements. CS provided construction engineering services during construction, and the project was completed on time and under budget.

Dunn County 84th Ave SW

Civil Science staff provided design and construction services to Dunn County for this 2-mile road project. Services included topographic survey, design engineering, Right-of-Way acquisition, USACE permitting, bid services, construction engineering, construction survey, and materials testing. The existing roadway

consisted of 18-foot wide surface width, with clear-zone deficiency’s, and poor sight distances. The roadway improvements included full reconstruction, drainage improvements, and class 13 aggregate surfacing. The project improved this section of road to a 26-foot surface width, while addressing clear-zone and sightline issues.

McKenzie County Bridge Replacements

Civil Science staff provided design services to McKenzie County for nine (9) bridge replacement projects All these projects include replacing existing bridges with precast box culverts and provided a design for bidding steel bridge alternates. Elements of the projects included grading, erosion control, precast box culvert and bridge design, aggregate surfacing, and incidentals. Design also included a Documented CatEx environmental document, right-of-way acquisition, roadway design and hydraulic culvert design. The county constructed these projects in the 2024 & 2025 seasons.
