Project Description: Civil Science and its staff have a long history of working on the Little Valley Sports Fields & Pickleball Complex. The first phase of the project began in 2006, and over the years the complex has been further developed over a total of five different phases. Recently, as part of this project, reductions were made to the irrigated grass areas outside of the sports fields to save on water consumption. Xeriscaping (low water use landscaping) was introduced to the areas previously occupied by traditional lawn. The overall park consists of a world-class 24-court pickleball complex, five high-performance sports fields, two restroom facilities, four tournament grade sand volleyball courts, connection of shared-use trails, and parking improvements. Project coordination included a series of design iteration meetings with City staff, the Southern Utah Pickleball Association, Southern Utah Soccer Association, and others. Specialty site amenities include post-tensioned concrete pickleball courts, a MUSCO court & sports field lighting system to allow for night tournaments, a public announcement system, tournament & notification boards, a central pavilion tournament-type “command center”, shade structures, on-site parking, restroom & storage buildings, high performance sand-based multisport fields, drainage, landscaping, & irrigation.
