- The roundabout successfully addressed traffic congestion from the nearby American Leadership Academy Charter School. The design addressed semi-truck turning movements while minimizing issues related to speed alignments for smaller vehicles, and incorporated pedestrian crossings.
- The grading design accommodated fairly steep roadway slopes along Mill Road and for the 1100 South approach.
- The design included a future west leg extension with sewer main. Civil Science coordinated efforts with both City representatives and the CMGC.
- Signage and striping design included RRFB’s (rectangular rapid flashing beacons) at all crosswalks and LED flashing yield signs on all approaching legs. The intersection is a safe walking route to the adjacent charter school.
- Design included a WB right turn slip lane to mitigate school traffic and increase the roundabout’s capacity.
- Construction was completed in August 2021.
